The hydraulic engine mounts for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214 with M256 inline-six engine are filled mounts that use hydraulic fluid chambers to progressively increase damping under load. Failed mounts cause excessive engine movement, vibration and can lead to secondary damage. This pair replaces both mounts simultaneously.

2. Support engine with transmission jack and wood block under sump

4. Remove engine undertray

6. Loosen engine mount lower bolts (M12) x4

8. Raise engine slightly to unload mounts (max 15mm)

10. Remove upper through-bolt (M14)

14. Compare new mount to old

16. Install new mount — torque upper bolt to 80Nm

20. Torque lower bolts to 55Nm
