The hydraulic timing chain tensioner for the Mercedes CLA C118 M282 engine maintains correct chain tension under all operating conditions. Cold-start chain rattle is often traced to a failing tensioner that loses oil pressure overnight. This OEM tensioner resolves the issue.

2. Remove engine cover

4. Locate tensioner on front right of engine

6. Have cloth ready for oil

8. Remove tensioner bolt

10. Pull tensioner out carefully

12. Install new tensioner with new sealing washer

14. Torque to 60Nm

16. Run engine and verify rattle has gone.
